2017-2018 American Advertising Awards (ADDY Awards)

Sponsored by the American Advertising Federation, the American Advertising Awards, also known as the ADDY Awards, honor excellence in advertising and cultivate the highest creative standards in the industry. It is the largest creative awards competition in the advertising industry, attracting over 40,000 entries combined every year. This competition is a three-tier national competition, and submitting locally to AAF Tallahassee is the first step. If you win locally, you will move on to the second tier, Districts. District ADDY winners are then forwarded to the third tier, the national stage. Because this is the only three-tiered competition in Advertising, an ADDY® is widely renowned as the most difficult advertising award to earn.

 

 

 

 


ENTRY SUBMISSIONS:

Entries are now open and will be accepted through January 18, 2018 until 8:00 p.m. All work entered in the 2017-2018 American Advertising Award competition must have first appeared in the media between January 1 and December 31, 2017. If you enter on or before December 29, 2017 you will qualify for the early-bird pricing, and will save $15 per entry!

Print Submissions:

  • Physical submissions are REQUIRED for all entries in the following divisions: Sales & Marketing, Print Advertising, Out-of-Home & Ambient Media, Cross Platform and Categories 79-84 of Elements of Advertising. This includes submission of a physical copy of the creative work—SUITABLE  FOR IN-PERSON JUDGING and two printed copies of the entry form. Failure to comply with these guidelines could result in disqualification. Do NOT send original or irreplaceable artwork. It will NOT be returned.
  • Entries must be packaged inside the AAF-issued clear envelopes with the “Call for Entries” card inside. (Packet pick up information is below.)

Digital Submissions:

  • Online/Interactive categories (#37–47 and 75), Film, Video & Sound categories (#48–71), and Elements of Advertising categories (#85–98) may be made entirely online, including submission of creative assets either via digital file uploads or submission of URLs for judging (carefully follow the submission instructions during the online entry process).

 


 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR PROFESSIONALS

  • The American Advertising Awards are open to just about any communications individual, department or agency: advertising agencies, in-house marketing departments, interactive agencies, social media groups, public relations agencies, design firms, production houses, TV stations and affiliates, radio stations, graphic designers, art directors, copywriters, photographers, producers, and freelancers.
  • All work entered in the 2017-2018 American Advertising Award competition must have first appeared in the media between January 1 and December 31, 2017.
  • With the exceptions of Public Service Advertising and Advertising Industry Self-Promotion categories, work entered must have been the result of paid creative services and media placement in the normal course of business.
  • Entries must be submitted in the local market where the work was originally created, not published.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENTS

  • Applicants must be enrolled full or part-time in an accredited U.S. educational institution.
  • All worked entered into the competition must have been created between January 1 and December 31, 2017.
  • Work may be developed specifically for this competition or submitted from previous projects or competitions.
  • Work must be created while entrant is a student not employed in the advertising industry.
  • Student intern work is eligible if it is not used by or paid for by a client. Work developed for paying clients will not be accepted.
  • Entries may be entered into only one local American Advertising Awards competition, which is determined by the location of the school at which the work was created.
  • Recent graduates are eligible to enter as long as the entry was created while the entrant was a student during the 2017 calendar year and the entry meets all other requirements

PACKET DROP-OFF:

You may drop off your ADDY packets on January 18th between 4:30-8:00pm at the CoLab @ the Pod our AAF Tallahassee Headquarters (124 Marriott Dr, Tallahassee, FL 32301). No entries will be accepted after 8:00pm. If you need to make arrangements to drop off your packets at an earlier date please email: ADDYS@aaftallahassee.com.

There will be apps and drinks at the Packet Drop-Off (Sponsored by The Pod Advertising) so…even if you have digital entries and no packets to drop off, stop by and hang! Thank you Pod!

*Early-bird fee qualifies if you enter on or before December 29, 2017. After December 29, normal fees apply.

**Please make sure your membership is up-to-date. If you click member pricing, and your membership is not up to date, AAF Tallahassee will bill you for membership dues, and your membership dues must be paid by January 18, 2017 for your entries to qualify.
