FSU seeks a Web & New Media Design Specialist to develop web page structure, architecture, content, functionality, scalability and engagement tools in collaboration with University Communications, IT Services and other Web resources to produce effective, efficient and cutting edge Web sites, web applications, and related social media sites that support and enhance the University’s brand, communications strategies and online reputation.
Develop, in collaboration with various University partners, Web resources that support the University’s brand and integrated marketing and communications initiative and online resources. Provide consultative support in the selection and use of web applications, content, and images suitable across multiple platforms to enhance the usability of the University web sites and access of technology and information systems.
Conduct research of market/competitor/relevant websites and perform interviews with clients and audiences (University faculty and staff) to collect information on website structure, content, functionality, and interactivity. Research and monitor emerging trends and technologies, and recommend solutions to best support the current and future Web strategies, priorities and emerging needs.
Supervise team of staff and/or students, in the creation of Web pages and content on behalf of institutional sites and/or university clients in support of the brand and integrated marketing strategy.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree related to technology and/or communication and at least two years of experience related to the responsibilities of the position or a combination of post high school education and experience related to the responsibilities of the position equal to six years.
Experience with the development of multimedia design concepts based on demographics of audience and constituents. Experience with web design and development including designing/developing for third-party web platforms (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, et al.). Ability to hand-code standards-compliant pages using table-less layouts from design mockups.
Experience with project planning and development to include estimating project costs, setting and achieving accurate production goals, and evaluating work quality and completeness.
Experience with computer software and operating/content managing systems, including Macintosh computers and Apple Final Cut Pro; PowerPoint; and Adobe Creative Suite.
Experience working with current media technology including issues, trends, web standards and best practices including search engine optimization. Familiarity with mobile friendliness, responsive design and usability-centered approaches.
Knowledge of and ability to use standard programming languages such as C++, HTML, PHP, MySQL, CSS, jQuery and jQueryUI, Java, and ActionScript Coding.
Knowledge of and ability to work with open source CMS solutions, such as EZ publish.
Ability to perform assigned responsibilities with minimal to moderate supervision.
Preferred
Experience in taking a project from concept through implementation to affect enhancements to the University’s web brand to foster creativity and change management, and adopt new web technologies and experiences.
Experience with computer software and operating/content managing systems, such as Avid editing software and Adobe Creative Suite to include Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator, PhotoShop, Flash, Dreamweaver, and Director.
This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check.

Responsibilities
The position’s primary responsibility is to maintain The Florida State University Alumni Association’s online presence through its website(s), electronic communications and other web platforms. The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Oversees website design and development as well as content development; creates, updates and maintains web pages on a daily basis using a content management system (Blackbaud NetCommunity).
· Manages the distribution of all mass electronic communications
· Coordinates web projects with Alumni Association staff members; supports marketing and promotional efforts for membership, business development, special events and alumni programs via electronic communications and inclusion on the association’s website(s).
· Leads web projects by communicating project requirements, priorities and schedules to all involved parties.

· Assists with regular data requests.
· Assists in the development of statistical reports to evaluate alumni communications and services; provides analytics, usage and marketing reports on all aspects of the association’s online communications; analyzes web statistics.
Qualifications:
· A Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline is preferred for this position; work experience may substitute for education with a minimum of two to five years of professional experience in online content creation, website editing and production in a fast-paced, multifaceted organization
· Expertise in the use of a computer
· Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including Dream Weaver, Flash, Illustrator and Photoshop, and Microsoft Office
· Experience with HTML/XHTML and CSS
· Familiarity with major browsers (IE, Firefox, Safari and Chrome) and ability to ensure compatibility of all online content among popular web browsers
· Ability to ensure cross-platform compatibility and exchange between Macintosh and Windows computers
· Experience in writing, editing and proofreading for the web
· Experience working in content management systems
· Practical knowledge of graphic, audio, video and text file formats and their proper application and use
