In many ways, this has been a banner year for AAF Tallahassee. We began the year with an incredible event called “Havana Nights” where we presented our highest award, the Silver Medal, to Nick Waller of WCTV, and raised money for our scholarship fund. In February, we had a record-number of ADDY submissions and great attendance at the ADDY Awards Gala. Our speakers series luncheons have also been well attended and we hosted a number of professionals from around the state for Ad Day at the Capitol. Everything we do is to raise awareness of the economic impact of the advertising industry and recognize the creativity and passion of students and professional alike in our community.

Supporting academic study in the advertising and communications field is also a hallmark of AAF Tallahassee and the AAF 4th District. We are thrilled to present scholarships to students, like the two ladies recognized today, who already are making their mark on our industry and the Tallahassee community. We are fortunate to be associated with a very active AAF District here in Florida that also recognizes student achievement and advertising acumen with four scholarships annually.

Today, we announce that Sarah Jean Ferraris, a senior advertising and economics major at FSU, has been awarded the $1,000 Mosaic Scholarship by the AAF 4th District. Sarah is a 3rd year student at FSU double majoring in Communications & Social Sciences.  She is an active member of the FSU AAF Student chapter.

It is our privilege to announce the winner of not one, not two, but three AAF scholarships totaling $3,000…Laura Linthicum! Laura also is a senior advertising major at FSU, and is receiving a $1,000 AAF Tallahassee scholarship, plus the $1,000 President Scholarship and the $1,000 Governor Scholarship – both from AAF 4th District.

Laura certainly demonstrates academic excellence, creative ability and contribution to our community through internships with The Zimmerman Agency as a copywriter and with WVFS Radio, a not-for-profit, student-run station at FSU, as a DJ, music reviewer and corporate fundraiser. She serves on the award-winning FSU Arrowhead Advertising team and recently competed in the National Student Advertising Competition. Also, we are proud to welcome Laura to the AAFT board as our student representative for the coming year.

Congratulations again, Laura and Sarah!
